posh

source

for as long as i can remember i have absolutley adored victoria beckham. or posh spice as she was formerly known as. or rather victoria adams. i was obssessed with her when the spice girls came out, i wanted to be her, i wanted to have her snooty pout, i wanted to have her accent, i wanted to be posh spice. i cant even recall how many times i watched the spice girl movie, and how many times i would belt out their songs, or dress like them. it was all a bit exciting and i still get really excited when there is abit of new gossip that comes out about victoria. when she and david got together and then started having babies, i was like a little fan girl that was even more in love with all things beckham.

in recent years, with her rapid evolution from 'famous soccer wife' to style icon and respected part of the design industry pretty much complete, she has again flawed me with the elegance and grace that she seems to exude. Now that she is a mum of four, and she has a little girl, its easy to see how mrs beckham has changed. it seems that, while she (and david) still command the spotlight wherever they go, there no longer is the obvious push for exposure with regards to paparazzi. she has always seemed to be an attentive mother and now that she has the baby girl (that im sure she has no doubt been longing for) all seems to be in perfect balance on planet beckham.

as a fan girl who has grown up with vicki b, i can honestly say, even when she was soooo skinny with boobs out to here i still adored her. adored that she didnt smile, adored that she was so fashionable and adored that she sat in the stands at david's games and cheered. now i still adore her, for all those reasons, but for so many more as well. i love that she always looks polished and put together when i see photographs of her. i love that she is such a strong, independant woman, who makes bold fashion choices. i love that she seems to constantly reinvent herself (hello hairstyles- which i have proudly copied) and i love that there still seems to be a measure of mystic that surrounds her.

style icon? in my eyes- hell yes.

catchup

so i know i have MIA for a little while. honestly there has just been so much going on that i have not found one second to post anything at all. between trying to finish off our front garden, buying my first car, going on wine tours and working late i dont know how i am still standing. hopefully things can settle into more of a 'regular' (but still fun) routine. just a few photos from the last couple of weeks. enjoy xx

mad for mad men

i have been in love with this TV series since season one. in the beginning, it was slow and i didn't see myself finishing it. but gradually it grew on me, so much so that i would stay awake until ree-donk-ulous hours to watch an episode through to the end. the characterisation, the writing, the costumes- everything was just so captivating. the thing that stuck out the most for me was the culture of the time, with everyone drinking and smoking like there was no tomorrow. pregnant? no worries, light it up! just had a heart attack? please drink it up! in a business meeting? of course you can! there was no place that it was unacceptable to light it up. one of the most intriguing characters has to be Peggy, played by Elizabeth moss. peggy shows such a transformation through the series, from shy receptionist to a confident woman, who is not afraid of her sexuality and not afraid to admit she likes her work. i dont think one can watch mad men without noting the ah-ma-zingness that that christina hendricks, who plays the sassy and confident joan holloway. she is by far my favourite. she is beautiful, strong willed, street smart and above all she owns that office. nothing goes by without joan knowing about it, nothing of note happens without her hand at least having some sort of influence and no gossip leaves the office without her hearing it first or shutting it down completely. she is like the sasha fierce of the show. all in all, i heart mad men and cant wait for the next season. i heart it so much that i have even purchased some mad men inspired clothing, which will no doubt be in an upcoming post. hurry up next season! i am suffering without my usual doses of don draper, peggy and joan.

East End Engagement

This past weekend, one of my closest lovelies and her fiance threw their engagement party. It was a very classy affair, with lots of amazing family and friends there to celebrate their night. Drinks flowed, people got down on the dance floor, photo's where taken and speeches were made. All in all, an amazing night for everyone.

Everything was going wonderfully and the night ended with a massive dance off. And then I fell down the stairs. Coz you know, that's how I roll.

Congrats Mel and Max!
M&M for always
