luscious locks

i have been thinking about getting into the moroccan oil revolution for a long time now but just could not justify paying around $40 for a bottle of oil. finally today, after randomly walking into the pharmacy near my office, i was lucky enough to find a good bargain- a full size shampoo for $15 and a small bottle of the morrocan oil (25ml) for $13. bargain!
i came home with the mission of trying out my new purchases and WOW am i in love! my hair naturally curly and quite fine, so it tends to know very easily. i try not to use a ton of heat on it as well as my hair responds by becoming brittle and clumping into a giant knot- which is not a whole bunch of fun to comb out.
then there is the issue of how much hair falls out with each wash- i generally try to wash my hair twice a week- depending on how hot it is here. no matter what i have tried- creams, potions, lotions, masks, oils- nothing seems to strengthen my hair. my hairdresser even seems amazed that im not bald by the amount of hair that falls out with gentle wash ( let me tell you, having a professional say she is "freaked out" isn't the nicest feeling) but, moving on... tonight i might have just found my saving grace. i used the shampoo and just gently massaged it into my scalp and wow it felt good. im not someone who jumps on bandwagons with the latest this and that- but i have heard a whole heap about this range and i must say that im glad i ended up getting the shampoo. while rinsing it out, only a few strands of hair fell out- which had me thinking "whaaat?"  i mean, hair still fell out, but not a whole clump as usual. after one wash. a good result. i mean wow. so good.
i have tried the oil on my ends, and i guess time will only tell whether it livens up my curly mop of fine, volume lacking hair.
but so far? absolutely rating it.

this is not a sponsored post, i handed the money over myself :)

mad for mad men

i have been in love with this TV series since season one. in the beginning, it was slow and i didn't see myself finishing it. but gradually it grew on me, so much so that i would stay awake until ree-donk-ulous hours to watch an episode through to the end. the characterisation, the writing, the costumes- everything was just so captivating. the thing that stuck out the most for me was the culture of the time, with everyone drinking and smoking like there was no tomorrow. pregnant? no worries, light it up! just had a heart attack? please drink it up! in a business meeting? of course you can! there was no place that it was unacceptable to light it up. one of the most intriguing characters has to be Peggy, played by Elizabeth moss. peggy shows such a transformation through the series, from shy receptionist to a confident woman, who is not afraid of her sexuality and not afraid to admit she likes her work. i dont think one can watch mad men without noting the ah-ma-zingness that that christina hendricks, who plays the sassy and confident joan holloway. she is by far my favourite. she is beautiful, strong willed, street smart and above all she owns that office. nothing goes by without joan knowing about it, nothing of note happens without her hand at least having some sort of influence and no gossip leaves the office without her hearing it first or shutting it down completely. she is like the sasha fierce of the show. all in all, i heart mad men and cant wait for the next season. i heart it so much that i have even purchased some mad men inspired clothing, which will no doubt be in an upcoming post. hurry up next season! i am suffering without my usual doses of don draper, peggy and joan.

Learning all the words to...

Toni Braxton's 2010 album- Pulse.

I first discovered the album onboard South African Airways enroute to said country and fell in love. Constant repeat listening ensued. Obviously one shouldnt sing aloud on a plane.

Fell in love again 2 weeks ago. Learning the words to all the songs so I can sing in the shower.

current obsession

Adele. Yes, I am obsessed.
I admit it. I have both her albums on constant rotation  on my Iphone and I'm constantly hitting replay on a few songs and skipping other artists that come up.

The live acoustic versions of "Someone Like You" and "Turning Tables" are down right amazing. I am in love. Her beautiful, soulful voice just makes me want to whip out a microphone and sing along at the top of my lungs.

Obsessed.
